are dietary supplements safe for me as a cancer patient?
The Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) of 1994 defines dietary supplements as products taken by mouth that contain “dietary ingredients” used to supplement the diet. Those dietary supplements include vitamins, minerals, amino acids, etc. The dietary supplement comes in the form of tablets, teas, extracts, liquids, concentrates, powders, etc.
Most people suffering from cancer or not have the habits of using dietary supplements to balance their body need for some nutrients. But for cancer patients, it is not always safe to use them without medical advice. This is so because those supplements may interact with the treatment and make the treatment less effective. ‘Some research shows that large doses of nutrients from dietary supplements may actually keep cancer cells from being destroyed by interfering with conventional therapy’ ( American Institute for Cancer Research, June 2013). Cancer Only Women can Get
The type of cancer that only women can get is tied to their gynecological system. Those cancers are known as gynecological cancers. - The technician will then have you position your arms, head, and torso in such a way that it will not interfere with the test itself.
- Your breast is then gently pressed down by a large plastic plate.
- You feel some discomfort for a few seconds due to pressure on your breast.
- relax, and hold your breast for some seconds.
- The process will be repeated with the second breast.
- The whole process can last up to 30 minutes.
